Keep your comic characters consistent
A practical checklist for stable faces, outfits and scene details across a short comic.
Quick answer
Character consistency starts with an approved reference and a reusable character description. Keep facial traits, clothing and key accessories fixed; change only the pose, expression and scene that the story needs.
Build a small character sheet
Record the name, hairstyle, clothing, age range and identifying accessories. Keep sensitive details out of the description. Review one reference before creating all the panels.
Separate identity from the scene
Store character descriptions independently from panel descriptions. A scene can change from a bookshop to a street without silently changing the character’s hair or coat.
Revise one panel at a time
When a single scene is wrong, specify the change and keep the approved references and other panels fixed. Version every revision so you can return to an earlier image.
Understand the limit
Image generation can still produce inconsistencies. Compare every panel against the reference; do not assume a prompt guarantees identity. The frontend leaves new character and panel results empty until a backend supplies them.
