How to turn a photo into a comic story

Choose good references, write four moments, and edit your photo-to-comic story before export.

Quick answer

A photo-to-comic story needs three inputs: clear character references, a short memory, and a sequence of scenes. Review the characters and script first, then add artwork and editable dialogue.

Choose character references

Use a sharp, well-lit image for each person. Avoid heavy filters and faces hidden behind sunglasses. For a short story, one or two characters are easier to keep consistent. Obtain permission from anyone whose photo you use.

Write one memory, not a biography

Name the place, what happened, and one small detail that makes the scene yours. For example: “We met at a bookshop during a storm. A ginger cat stole our seat. We shared tea, then walked home under one umbrella.”

Split it into four moments

Use a beginning, a meeting, a small turning point, and an ending. Give every frame a scene description and one concise caption. Avoid putting the entire story in the first bubble.

Check before exporting

Check names, character references, reading order and text wrapping. The current ComicShine frontend supports manual editing and sample artwork. Creating new artwork from your photos requires the generation service, which is not connected yet.
